Who doesn't like a Home Run Derby.  Saturday, July 8th!

You asked?  We listened!!!

What better way to celebrate the spirit of baseball and the BMBA hosting the Blue Jays Instructional Clinic than to have a same day Home Run Derby!

All baseball players city wide who are Mosquito (2006-2007), Peewee (2005-2004) and Bantam (2003-2002) aged athletes are invited to participate in this first time event!  The event will take place on Saturday, 8th July from 11am-2pm at the Binbrook Fairgrounds.  The fences are short (180 feet) which will allow for the balls to fly out!

Here are some more of the details;

  • Any player in the birth years are eligible to register
  • The first 30 players per division registered will have entry into the derby
  • On-line registration cost will be $10
  • Prizes will be awarded to the three top players in all three divisions
  • A pitching machine will be used at a set speed for ALL participants
  • Mosquito @ 11am - Peewee @ noon - Bantam @ 1pm
  • Players will have a 2 minute window (new MLB rules) to hit as many bombs as possible with the top three continuing to the finals.  Another timed format will be used for the final.
  • ALL players are asked to wear their present year jerseys (if applicable) and come prepared with proper equipment to take part safely in the event (helmet and foot wear)
The BMBA will be hosting an on-site BBQ for the event and encourage family and friends to come out to enjoy the festivities.  Raffles and draws for some great prizes will also be on hand!
