Umpiring Opportunities & Clinic Registration
Submitted By Administrator on Thursday, February 16, 2017
2017 umpiring opportunities are available. The Binbrook Baseball Association is currently accepting umpire applications for the upcoming season.  Umpiring is a great way to enjoy the game of baseball, while earning money and gaining valuable leadership skills and confidence. Umpire certification is required. Registration for certification is open to minors 12+ years of age and adults alike.

Umpires will be paid the following for the 2017 season:

-$20 to do a Rookie division game.
-$20 to do Mosquito bases.
-$25 to do Pee Wee and up bases.
-$30 to do Mosquito & PW plate.
-$35 to do Bantam plate.
-$35 for those 18+ years of age who work a plate for any game.

Umpires must be at least 12 years of age to do Rookie and Mosquito level games. They must be at least 14 yrs of age to do Pee Wee and up games. To umpire an HDBA game, that is Mosquito division and up, umpires must be carded at least as a level 1 umpire. Preference will be given to carded umpires to do Rookie division games over non carded umpires.

The Hamilton Baseball Umpire Association (HUBA) is hosting level 1/2 umpiring clinics on April 22nd, 9:00 am at Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School located at 100 Panabaker Drive, Ancaster, On.

Registration is $25 for level 1, $45 for level 2. We will reimburse registration costs for level 1 certification when an umpire works 5 games, level 2 at 10 games.

An umpire who was carded as a level 1 umpire last year or in previous years must annually do their level 1 certification to maintain their status. To do a level 2 certification an umpire needs to have been certified as a level 1 for two consecutive years.

If interested, registration for the clinic is done on the Baseball Ontario website under umpires, development, 2017 umpire clinics. Register for the clinic you wish to attend. Register as either a new umpire or enter your certification number, whichever is applicable.

Please note, Baseball Ontario will cut off registration after a certain number. If interested do not wait to register. When registering, register as an HDBA affiliate and as Binbrook Baseball for club team. You must be registered as a Binbrook Baseball umpire to receive certification reimbursement.
