We Want To Be The Best
Submitted By pwiesner on Sunday, February 28, 2016
Welcome to The Binbrook Baseball Association for the 2016 season!  With the season quickly approaching, I’d like to highlight a  few of the key changes and upgrades we have made for the upcoming season based on feedback we have received from parents, players, coaches and volunteers.  I assure you will ALL be quite enlightened!

My name is Patrick McFadyen and I have taken on the position of Player Development and Baseball Operations within our organization.  I have over 20 years of baseball experience playing, coaching and instructing various levels of baseball.  I have recently completed multiple training clinics with the National Coaching Certification Program which qualifies me to coach at a Peewee Rep level within the province of Ontario.  What we as an association hope to bring to you as a parent, coach and player is an enjoyable baseball experience while challenging players to reach their full potential in a fun and safe environment.

Below are some of the changes and upgrades we’ve made to achieve this goal;

Mosquito Division

Our intention is to run an internal Mosquito Division which will only play other teams within our Association.  Games will only be played at our diamonds (Edwards/Fairgrounds) on Thursday evenings.  I believe that this will allow for our players to focus on their development and allow players and coaches to have more fun throughout the season. We understand that challenging our kids and players it monumental with their development, however teaching them properly is our primary objective in order to advance their skill set.

Coaching Development

We received a lot of feedback from coaches that they felt under-prepared in their role last season.  This season, our intention is to provide coaches with as much support as possible. This will allow for more consistency and better development of our players.  Prior to the season, all coaches will be invited to participate in a general coaching clinic which will give coaches all of the basic information to successfully manage a game and practice.  Head coaches will also be required to complete the NCCP Online Initiation Module.  Upon completion of both of these, coaches will be eligible for a 50% reimbursement of their child’s registration fees.

Player Clinics

Encouraging our players’ development is our top priority.  We have been operating a winter baseball clinic for the first time this year which has shown great results.  During the season, players between the Rookie Ball and Bantam levels will be eligible to participate in 2-3 separate development clinics which will focus on different elements of the game.  The in season clinics will be offered free of charge to players.

Batting Cages

Last year, with the assistance of our parents, we successfully regained full possession of the Fairgrounds diamonds.  This has given us the opportunity to utilize the batting cage in place with one of our new pitching machines.  The batting cage will be available for ALL teams to use based on a schedule to be created once the season starts.
